Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Indianapolis, IN. This contract position provides care for hematology and bone marrow transplant patients requiring blood and electrolyte replacement, neurological assessments, long-term intravenous therapy, chemotherapy, and physical therapy support. The role offers a 12-hour day schedule with opportunities to support like units as operational needs arise.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift, 7:00 a.m.7:30 p.m.; 36 hours per week; every third weekend, including Saturday and Sunday 12-hour shifts; holidays as needed; one call requirement.
- Assignment Dates: 11/30/202602/22/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse qualified to provide care in stepdown or critical care settings; demonstrated skills in blood administration, electrolyte replacement, neurological assessments, central line dressing changes, and administration of high-risk and hazardous medications.
- Preferred Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy and immunotherapy certificate; oncology/hematology or bone marrow transplant experience; chemotherapy administration experience; critical care experience with ventilators and intravenous drips.
- Additional Information: The unit cares for hematology and bone marrow transplant patients with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. The role may include care involving ventilators, infusion pumps, patient monitors, patient lifts, blood products, electrolyte replacement, neurological assessments, chemotherapy, and long-term intravenous therapy. Mandatory education modules and three orientation shifts are required before independent assignment. Navy scrubs are required.
