Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit Sylva, NC. This night-shift position provides care for adult and geriatric patients in a combined intensive-care and progressive-care setting. The role requires strong critical-care skills, adaptability, and the ability to care for complex patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week; weekend coverage may be required up to every other weekend, with call up to twice per contract.
• Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); minimum of 2 years of recent adult intensive-care experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior travel experience; progressive-care experience; rural or community healthcare experience; strong adaptability with minimal orientation.
• Additional Information: The role supports a mixed intensive-care and progressive-care patient population consisting primarily of adult and geriatric patients. Required clinical capabilities include ventilator management with vasopressors, intravenous medication titration, arterial and central lines, bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), diabetic ketoacidosis management, and alcohol-withdrawal care. The position involves caring for patients with conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, congestive heart failure exacerbation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, hypertensive crisis, and overdose.
