Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician supports surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, assisting during surgery, and performing routine and delegated duties in accordance with departmental standards and policies. The position supports a broad range of surgical specialties, including vascular, transplant, ophthalmology, spine, robotic, cardiac, neurosurgery, gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, otolaryngology, and oral procedures.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) licensure through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or equivalent; minimum five years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with vascular, transplant, ophthalmology, spine, robotic, and cardiac procedures.
- Responsibilities: Prepare for and assist during surgical procedures; perform routine and delegated duties; support quality patient care; handle surgical instruments, equipment, specimens, and sterile processes in accordance with established standards.
- Schedule: Night shifts scheduled four 10-hour shifts per week, with variable start times between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.; weekends included in the rotation, generally every other weekend; on-call participation required.
- Additional Information: The role may support procedures involving vascular surgery, transplants, ophthalmology, robotic surgery, orthopedic spine, neurosurgery, gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, otolaryngology, oral surgery, and cardiac surgery. Surgical equipment may include robotic systems, cataract and vitrectomy equipment, and specialized imaging and navigation technology.
