Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician, ORT location not specified. The position supports a high-volume surgical services environment across multiple specialties and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, preparing and managing surgical supplies and equipment, supporting specimen handling, and following decontamination, sterilization, sharps safety, and Universal Protocol procedures.

Job Details

• Schedule: Evening shift; 10-hour shifts; 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification and National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification; at least 3 years of operating room experience; prior travel assignment experience; New York state license in hand at submission; competency with general surgery, laparoscopic procedures, vascular, orthopedic, neurological, gynecological, urological, otolaryngological, colorectal, and cardiothoracic procedures; knowledge of aseptic technique, decontamination and sterilization processes, sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures.
• Preferred Qualifications: Four years of experience; Electronic medical record charting experience using Epic; Trauma Level II experience; management or lead experience.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Call coverage is required for six shifts during each eight-week period, including weekends and holidays.
  • The department supports approximately 4060 cases daily across 13 operating rooms and 12 service lines.
  • Surgical scrubs are provided.
  • First-time travelers are not accepted.
