Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician, ORT. This position supports a broad range of surgical procedures across multiple service lines in a fast-paced operating room environment. The role requires strong knowledge of sterile technique, specimen handling, surgical instrumentation, and operating room safety protocols.

Job Details

• Schedule: Evening shifts, 10 hours per shift, 40 hours per week. The assignment is scheduled from 11/30/2026 through 01/25/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification and National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification; New York license in hand at submission; at least 3 years of operating room experience; prior travel experience; experience with general operating room procedures, aseptic technique, decontamination and sterilization, sharps safety, specimen handling and labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures.
• Preferred Qualifications: Four years of experience; Electronic Medical Record (Epic) charting experience; trauma experience; management or lead experience.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Call is required, including six shifts during each 8-week period, with weekend and holiday coverage.
  • The operating room includes 13 rooms and approximately 4060 cases per day.
  • Experience with abdominal, vascular, otolaryngology, gynecologic, orthopedic, neurologic, colorectal, thoracic, urologic, and robotic surgical procedures is preferred.
  • Relevant procedures include laparoscopic-assisted cases, gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, cervical and lumbar fusion, craniotomy, total hip and knee replacement, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and transurethral resection of the prostate.
  • Additional technical competencies include direct laryngoscopy, tracheostomy, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, dilation and curettage, anterior and posterior repair, bilateral tubal ligation, spinal fusion, carpal tunnel release, fracture reduction, bunionectomy, colorectal robotic surgery, mediastinoscopy, Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS), ureteroscopy, lithotripsy, and sterilization indicator management.
  • Surgical scrubs are provided.
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position.
