Job Summary
Milwaukee, WI Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Floor position supporting patients recovering from stroke, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, oncology conditions, tracheostomies, and complex medical procedures. The role provides overnight inpatient rehabilitation nursing care within a 45-bed program and supports patients requiring specialized rehabilitation, wound care, enteral feeding, airway management, and mobility assistance.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Required skills include intravenous pump use and intravenous insertion, central, peripherally inserted central catheter and midline catheter care, tube-feeding pump operation, gastrointestinal, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, and nasogastric tube management, nasogastric tube insertion, wound vacuum and wound care, indwelling catheter insertion and care, tracheostomy care and suctioning, laryngectomy care, drain care, and management of behavioral concerns.
- Additional Information: The inpatient rehabilitation program serves patients with physical medicine and rehabilitation needs, including stroke, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, oncology conditions, tracheostomies, transplant recovery, and complex cardiac support needs. Typical patient ratios are 1:67 for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses and 1:78 for certified nursing assistants on night shift. Unit support includes a charge nurse, health unit coordinator, hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy. Equipment includes patient lifts and ceiling lifts. Weekend rotation occurs every third weekend as needed, with holidays every other holiday as needed. Scrub colors are unrestricted except camouflage and denim; clogs are not permitted.
