Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor MS position on a night-shift unit serving adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic and neurology needs. The role supports a 36- or 48-hour weekly option, with 12-hour shifts, centralized telemetry monitoring, and a patient ratio of 1:5. The unit provides interdisciplinary support and cares for patients requiring medical-surgical, orthopedic, and neurological interventions.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; one year of experience; recent Electronic Medical Record (Epic) experience within the past six months; experience with medical-surgical, orthopedic trauma, cerebrovascular accident, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care and management, pre- and post-neurosurgery care, substance withdrawal, total joint replacement, traumatic brain injury, and wound care or wound vacuum therapy.
- Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit serves adult and geriatric patients and supports orthopedic and neurology populations. Patient ratios are 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends. Telemetry is monitored in a centralized unit. Support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretaries, patient care technicians, patient transporters, and a discharge nurse supporting multiple departments. Two scheduled time-off requests may be submitted. Core onboarding items and laboratory requirements must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Required educational modules are completed onsite during orientation.
