Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor position supporting adult and geriatric patients across neurological and orthopedic care. The role includes day shifts, care coordination for a patient population involving neurology and orthopedics, and collaboration with multidisciplinary support services. The unit accepts first-time travelers and requires recent Epic experience.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; at least 1 year of experience; required charting system experience with recent Epic experience within the past 6 months; experience caring for adult and geriatric patients.
- Schedule: Day shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, with a 36-hour-per-week schedule and a 48-hour option available.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Orthopedic and neurological patient population with centralized telemetry monitoring. Typical patient ratio is 1:5. Clinical support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, unit secretaries, patient care technicians, patient transporters, and a house discharge nurse. Relevant clinical skills include cerebrovascular accident care, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, medical-surgical nursing, mood disorders, nasal cannula use, non-invasive airway management, orthopedic trauma, peripheral line care and management, peripheral nerve block catheters, pre- and post-neurosurgery care, substance withdrawal, total joint replacement, traumatic brain injury, and wound care or wound vacuum management. Two pre-approved time-off requests are permitted, and orientation includes 20 hours.
