Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Rm Tech, ORT. The surgical technician supports operating room procedures across general, orthopedic, neurological, and gynecological specialties. The position requires a rotating schedule with varied shift lengths and on-call coverage.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience; travel experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification; active or pending state licensure; experience with general, orthopedic, neurological, and gynecological procedures; strong orthopedic, neurological, or cardiac experience; competency in maintaining aseptic technique, sterile field management, surgical instrumentation, sterilization, room turnover, and patient preparation.
• Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; experience with computerized charting; experience with abdominal hysterectomy, anterior lumbar interbody fusion, anterior/posterior repair, appendectomy, arthroscopy, bilateral tubal ligation, cholecystectomy, fracture reduction, colon resection, craniotomy, dilation and curettage, general operating room procedures, hernia repair, ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion, kyphoplasty, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, vaginal hysterectomy, and extreme lateral interbody fusion.
• Schedule: Rotating schedule with varied 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, including days, evenings, and nights; 40 hours per week; on-call coverage required 1 weekend and 34 weekdays per month.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include arranging and inventorying sterile setups, passing instruments to the surgical team, maintaining the sterile environment, assisting with patient preparation and movement, cleaning and sterilizing instrumentation, supporting room turnover, accessing computer-based preference lists and digital images, and participating in safety and quality initiatives. The position serves adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients. Influenza vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions considered.
