Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor: This travel nursing position supports adult and geriatric patients on a medical-surgical and telemetry unit during 12-hour night shifts. The role provides care for patients with surgical, vascular, gynecologic, gastrointestinal, and other complex medical conditions while participating in telemetry monitoring, emergency response, and interdisciplinary care.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; active California nursing license in hand; minimum of 2 years of experience; required charting system experience; required community hospital experience; required influenza vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions permitted.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level II experience.
• Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week, with weekend coverage every other weekend.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The position provides care for adults and geriatric patients with typical ratios of 1:4 to 1:5. Clinical responsibilities include medical-surgical and telemetry care, remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response and code team participation, central and peripheral line management, peripherally inserted central catheter management, blood product administration, continuous bladder irrigation, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, renal failure care, intravenous therapy, insulin and heparin administration, patient-controlled analgesia, surgical drain and chest tube management, oxygen administration, isolation precautions, feeding tube care, colostomy care, and pre- and post-thoracic surgery care. Patient conditions may include bowel obstruction, bowel resection, carotid endarterectomy, skin grafts, cholecystectomy, reconstructive or plastic surgery, oral or facial surgery, vascular surgery, gynecologic cancers, pelvic or abdominal pain, pelvic masses, and other gynecologic conditions requiring surgical or medical intervention. Special procedures may include brachytherapy, high-dose-rate therapy, clinical trials, and chemotherapy with neutropenic precautions.
