Job Summary

Operating Room Open Heart. The role supports elective and emergency surgical procedures for adult and pediatric patients across cardiovascular and general operating room services. Responsibilities include surgical technology support, equipment and instrument management, and participation in scheduled call coverage.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification.
  • New York state license in hand at submission.
  • Electronic health record experience using EPIC required.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred.
  • First-time travelers may be considered with two to three years of experience in a busy cardiovascular operating room.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Provides support for elective and emergency surgeries involving adult and pediatric patients.
  • Covers cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, general, laparoscopic, robotic, and trauma procedures.
  • Supports 23 operating rooms and one procedure room.
  • One call shift per week and one full weekend per month are required.
  • May float to general procedures when cardiovascular operating room volume is low.
  • Requires knowledge of sterile technique, instrument processing, equipment documentation, specimen handling, sterilization and disinfection, fire safety, sharps safety, and universal surgical safety protocols.
