Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician Colorado. The Surgical Technician provides technical support to surgeons, registered nurses, and anesthesia providers in the operating room setting. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, preparing and handling instruments and supplies, supporting specimen preservation, and performing sterile processing duties.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating 8-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of current Surgical Technician experience; registration as a Surgical Technician with the State of Colorado.
• Additional Information:
  • Arranges surgical supplies and instruments and maintains accurate counts throughout procedures.
  • Passes instruments and sterile supplies to the surgeon and assists with dressing application.
  • Prepares and preserves specimens for testing.
  • Operates sterilizers and performs tests to validate and verify instrument sterilization.
  • Validates the sterility of packaged supplies.
  • Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments after procedures.
  • Inspects sterile items for contamination and maintains sterility while opening supplies.
  • Anticipates procedural supply and equipment needs, checks expiration dates, restocks the operating room, and maintains adequate supply levels.
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform heavy lifting.
  • May involve exposure to blood, body fluids, unpleasant sights and odors, and infectious diseases.
  • Requires physical and emotional stamina and the ability to function effectively in stressful situations.
