Job Summary

Surgical Technician, Operating Room Specialty. The Surgical Technician functions as the scrub person and works under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse to promote a safe operating room environment. The position supports surgical procedures by preparing instruments and supplies, coordinating with operating room and sterile processing staff, and applying knowledge of surgical techniques, anatomy, procedures, tools, and technologies.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military Surgical Technologist program; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certified Surgical Technologist certification.
• Schedule: Day shift, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Responsible for completing case carts according to preference cards; procuring instruments and supplies; coordinating instrumentation with operating room and sterile processing staff; reviewing daily schedules to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues; coordinating communications, duties, breaks, and lunches; procuring necessary supplies and instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled surgical procedures; and coordinating with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment. May float to Labor and Delivery if needed.
