Description
Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN), Intermediate Care Unit. This position provides care in a fast-paced surgical step-down setting for patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, and thoracic procedures. The role supports high-acuity patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgery, heart and lung transplantation, and those requiring mechanical circulatory support devices.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; two years of cardiac open-heart recovery experience; at least two previous travel assignments; strong surgical intermediate care experience; and intensive care unit experience managing high-acuity intermediate care patients.
- Preferred Qualifications: Critical care certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The position provides care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repairs, valve replacements, vascular procedures, and thoracic procedures. Responsibilities may include caring for patients with left ventricular assist devices and patients recovering from heart and lung transplants. The unit includes intermediate care, telemetry, and non-monitored levels of care, with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night.
