Job Summary

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) position providing critical care to patients with complex neurological and medical conditions, including stroke, dialysis needs, head bleeds, and other disorders requiring intensive monitoring. The role includes managing titratable drips, supporting ventilated patients, and collaborating with an in-house intensivist and advanced practice provider coverage.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with 48 hours per week. Weekend and holiday shifts are scheduled as needed.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and critical care experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Active license required for submission; candidates willing to wait for licensure may be considered
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; approved medical or religious exemptions may be considered
• Additional Information:
  • The unit cares for patients with stroke, dialysis needs, head bleeds, ventriculostomies, external ventricular drains, and other neurological disorders requiring critical care.
  • Patient assignment ratios are generally 2:1.
  • Registered nurses titrate medications including norepinephrine, phenylephrine, midazolam, paralytics, heparin, insulin, and nicardipine.
  • Available respiratory support includes ventilators, bilevel positive airway pressure, high-flow oxygen, and nasal cannula.
  • Respiratory therapy coverage is available 24/7, with intensivist coverage during the day, overnight call coverage, and 24/7 advanced practice provider coverage.
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit needs.
  • Weekend scheduling generally includes three weekend shifts, one Friday, and one Monday during each four-week schedule.
  • Holiday shifts are scheduled as needed.
  • Cancellation may include up to two shifts during a 13-week assignment.
