Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Emergency Room. This position provides emergency nursing care in a free-standing emergency department serving adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including approximately 15% pediatric patients. The role requires clinical expertise in emergency procedures, airway management, vascular access, cardiac care, and critical interventions in an environment without on-site respiratory therapy or pharmacy support.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of emergency nursing experience.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • Valid compact state nursing license in hand at submission.
  • Experience with triage, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, rapid sequence intubation, continuous intravenous sedation, ventilated patient care, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line and PICC line care, chest tube management, blood product administration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, arterial blood gas interpretation, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, phlebotomy, and starting and maintaining intravenous lines.
• Additional Information:
  • Care is provided in a free-standing emergency department with no on-site respiratory therapy or pharmacy support.
  • The registered nurse may perform respiratory therapy and pharmacy-related functions within the scope of the assignment.
  • The department treats adolescents, adults, geriatric patients, and approximately 15% pediatric patients.
  • Required clinical skills include tracheostomy care, cardioversion and defibrillation, breathing treatments, feeding tube management, PICC line care, rapid infuser use, syringe pump management, triple-lumen catheter care, and Port-A-Cath/vascular device access and care.
  • The department includes 24 beds.
  • The assignment requires coverage of three of five designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
  • Travelers may be expected to float between nearby affiliated facilities.
