Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position provides care for adult and geriatric patients in progressive care, telemetry, and intermediate care settings. The role supports patients with cardiac, renal, respiratory failure, and other complex conditions while managing advanced monitoring, procedures, and therapies.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of progressive care or intermediate care nursing experience; active compact license in hand at submission; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; experience with Epic electronic health record systems; intermediate care unit-level nursing experience; demonstrated competency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drips, BiPAP/CPAP management, central and peripheral line care, feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound care, cardiac catheterization care, procedural sedation monitoring, tracheostomy care, and patient-controlled analgesia.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel nursing experience is accepted but not required. First-time travelers may be considered.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Care is provided to adult and geriatric patients with general respiratory failure, cardiac and renal conditions, and CIWA-related needs.
  • The assignment includes a mixed telemetry and intermediate care environment.
  • Typical patient ratios are 1:4 for telemetry patients and 1:3 for intermediate care patients.
  • Clinical responsibilities may include cardioversion and defibrillation, 12-lead electrocardiograms, cooling and warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, fistulas, peripherally inserted central catheter and central line care, port and vascular device access, syringe pumps, triple-lumen catheters, wound vacuums, and administration of antiarrhythmic and antiseizure medications.
  • Support services include intravenous therapy teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary support.
  • The assignment requires commitment to working three of five designated holidays.
