Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical With Telemetry, Macon, GA. This position provides care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients with acute and chronic conditions, cardiac diagnoses, postoperative needs, and complex comorbidities. The role requires strong assessment, telemetry monitoring, care coordination, patient education, and time-management skills in a busy, team-oriented environment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts with 12-hour assignments and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Current registered nurse licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical or telemetry nursing experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Competency in cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation, post-cardiac catheterization care, transradial band management, and post-cardiac catheterization groin-site management.
  • Ability to manage insulin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, milrinone, digoxin, and nicardipine infusions, including heart-rate titration as clinically appropriate.
  • Skills in tracheostomy care, chest tube management, peripheral intravenous starts and maintenance, glucose-management systems, comprehensive assessment, interdisciplinary care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Medical-surgical nursing certification.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Care is provided to medical-surgical and telemetry patients with diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances, post-cardiac catheterization needs, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and general, orthopedic, or trauma surgical conditions.
  • Typical registered nurse patient assignments range from 4 to 6 patients.
  • The position includes weekend rotation and one shift during each major holiday period.
  • No call is required.
  • An electrocardiogram competency examination is required during onboarding.
  • Orientation includes educational modules and departmental training.
  • The care team includes certified nursing assistants, unit secretarial support, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, intensivist coverage, resource nursing, discharge nursing, and telemetry monitoring support.
