Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor Nurse supporting adult and geriatric patients in a neuro-focused medical-surgical setting. The role provides clinical care within a 1:6 patient ratio, participates in rapid response team activation, and uses Epic charting. The assignment offers day shifts with 36- or 48-hour weekly options.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, with 36- or 48-hour weekly options. Six weekend shifts are required within a six-week period. No call is required.
• Required Qualifications:
  • One year of recent experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; pending certification accepted
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required; pending certification accepted
  • Experience caring for up to six patients
• Preferred Qualifications: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred.
• Additional Information:
  • Provides care for adult and geriatric patients in a 32-bed unit
  • Supports medical-surgical neuro patient care, including blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube care, colostomy and ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin administration, insulin administration, isolation precautions, oxygen therapy, peripheral and peripherally inserted central catheter line management, phlebotomy, renal failure care, intravenous therapy, surgical drain care, and wound care
  • Rapid response team support is available
  • Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services
  • Brief unit orientation is provided
