Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Operating Room. This position delivers patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The role also supports daily operating room activities, staff education, quality initiatives, and safe, efficient patient care.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 8-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. On-call coverage is required for off-shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; one year of Operating Room experience; current Registered Nurse licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ability to read, write, and communicate in English; ability to use a lead apron.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Additional Information:
  • Delivers patient care using the nursing process and maintains complete, accurate, and current patient records.
  • Assesses physical, psychological, and social patient needs and develops plans of care in collaboration with appropriate care providers.
  • Administers and monitors medications while evaluating patient responses.
  • May function as a charge nurse and resource for patient care, orientation, and staff education.
  • Coordinates daily operating room activities and supports a safe environment and quality patient care.
  • Assists with personnel supervision, staff development, departmental needs, and management of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains confidentiality and complies with safety and blood and body fluid policies and procedures.
  • Submission requires two professional references from within the past two years, a completed skills checklist, and a competency examination completed within the past six months.
