Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Floor. The role provides comprehensive nursing care across the lifespan, with a focus on preoperative and postoperative assessment, patient education, clinical care, documentation, and safety. The position supports Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) activities and collaborates with the perioperative team to promote effective patient outcomes.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; at least 1 year of experience; demonstrated competency in assessment, clinical skills, nursing care, emergency equipment and procedures, and documentation.
• Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelors degree in nursing.
• Additional Information:
  • Performs systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments across pediatric through geriatric populations.
  • Provides individualized care for surgical patients based on the procedure and type of anesthesia.
  • Completes preoperative and postoperative assessments, patient education, and chart documentation.
  • Evaluates Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on the proposed surgery, patient age, and current health status.
  • Follows patient safety practices, including the National Patient Safety Goals, Universal Protocol, two-patient-identifier verification, safe transfer techniques, and proper body mechanics.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and promotes professional, courteous, and cooperative interactions with patients, families, and care team members.
