Description
Job Summary
Surgical Technician, Operating Room Tech, Oceanside, NY supports surgical residents and attending clinicians in an oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory operating room/procedure room. The position provides chair-side assistance, prepares sterile instruments and equipment, monitors patient vital signs, and supports safe, efficient surgical procedures.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift, 6:30 a.m.7:00 p.m., 11.5-hour shifts, with a minimum of 34.5 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Dental Assistant Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associates degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of experience.
- Additional Information:
- Provides four-handed assistance during oral surgery procedures.
- Escorts patients to the surgical chair and screens patients awaiting surgery.
- Reviews medical records to confirm required treatment and chart completeness.
- Cleans and disinfects countertops, stands, equipment, and procedure areas before setup.
- Organizes sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for each procedure.
- Obtains radiographs before, during, or after procedures as requested.
- Restocks cabinets and drawers and maintains medical and surgical supplies.
- Assists with monitoring vital signs, suctioning, instrument handling, and medication support.
- Removes instruments and equipment after procedures and disposes of medical waste.
- Responds effectively to emergencies.
