Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit. The role provides direct care for critically ill patients in an acute care setting, including respiratory failure, postoperative recovery, cardiac conditions, trauma, and other complex diagnoses. Responsibilities include ventilator support, titration of critical care infusions, respiratory equipment troubleshooting, and comprehensive patient monitoring.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Active Illinois registered nurse license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA)
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Intensive Care Unit assignment with approximately 1 nurse to 23 patients
  • Care may include respiratory failure, postoperative patients, wound care, intravenous antibiotics, cerebrovascular accident recovery, trauma, and cardiac conditions
  • Required clinical skills include percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube care and feedings; central venous catheter (CVC), peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC), and midline care; and tracheostomy management
  • Care of sedated and mechanically ventilated patients is required
  • Registered nurses titrate vasopressors, sedation, pain-control, insulin, cardiac, and other critical-care infusions
  • Respiratory equipment may include ventilators, continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, and high-flow oxygen systems
  • Weekend coverage is required every other weekend and as needed to fill schedule gaps
  • Holiday rotation is required
  • Orientation includes classroom training and two shifts with a preceptor
  • Scrubs are required; approved facility-designated T-shirts may also be worn
