Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor, location not specified. This acute care position provides nursing care for orthopedic and medical-surgical patients, including individuals recovering from joint replacement procedures and those with complex medical conditions. The role requires flexibility, self-direction, and participation in a structured orientation program.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m.7:00 a.m., with a minimum of 48 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required every third weekend, with Friday and Saturday considered weekend nights.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse licensure required for submission
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required
  • Drivers license required at submission
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is not required
• Additional Information:
  • Provides care for up to 28 beds, with an additional 22 overflow beds, and an approximate nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
  • Common patient conditions include total knee and hip replacements, shoulder replacements, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, wounds, intravenous infusions, dementia, oncology conditions, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, appendicitis, acute respiratory distress, and substance use or mental health conditions.
  • Charge nurses are present on each shift and take patient assignments.
  • Patient care technicians support the unit with an approximate ratio of 1:10.
  • Orientation includes one week of classroom instruction followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit.
  • The position includes hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting.
  • Navy blue scrubs are required.
  • A pass/fail exam covering orientation skills is administered during orientation.
