🩺 About the Role
The Travel Med/Surg Float Pool RN will provide safe, comprehensive nursing care across multiple inpatient settings while adapting to the needs of different units.
You will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring clinical status, administering treatments, educating patients and families, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
The role requires a high level of clinical judgment, flexibility, communication, and organization, particularly when transitioning between different inpatient environments.

This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical variety and flexibility.
Based on your competency, qualifications, and patient-care needs, you may be assigned to:
- Medical-Surgical
- Surgical
- Medical Oncology
- Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Cardiac
- Neuro/Trauma/Spine
Flexibility to support different units is an important part of this role. Nurses may also be asked to adjust between day and night coverage based on operational needs.
💙 What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing reassessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient-care plans.
- Monitor changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
- Provide nursing treatments and supportive/restorative care.
- Administer and monitor therapies within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families regarding care, treatment, and health needs.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate significant changes.
- Facilitate referrals and additional evaluation when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow hospital, regulatory, and professional nursing standards.
- Utilize available clinical resources effectively.
- Maintain a strong focus on patient safety and quality of care.
- Adapt quickly when floating between departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the RN scope of practice.
✅ What We're Looking For
Required
- 1+ year of Registered Nurse experience
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- ASN/ADN or higher
- Current RN license applicable to the state of practice
- Single-state or Compact RN license, as applicable
- Strong inpatient nursing and patient-assessment skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness and ability to float to units within your competency
Required Certifications
- BLS – American Heart Association
- ACLS – American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Current Registered Nurse License
