Unit: Acute Care Surgery PCU
Shift: Days/ Nights | 3×12 hours
Contract: Travel assignment
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Weekend: Every other weekend required
Holidays: Minimum 2 holidays per contract required
Epic: Required
Locals: Accepted at the same rate

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – PCU to provide care for adult patients in a fast-paced Acute Care Surgery Progressive Care Unit. The unit cares for complex surgical patients and requires strong cardiac monitoring, clinical assessment, and emergency response skills.

Patient Population & Procedures

The 28-bed unit has an average daily census of approximately 27 patients and specializes in:

• Bariatric surgery
• Colorectal surgery
• Plastic surgery
• Urology surgery
• Surgical oncology

Common procedures and therapies include CBI, flap and microsurgery patients, HIPEC, Whipple procedures, bariatric surgery, and leech therapy. The unit also utilizes negative-pressure and warm rooms.

Requirements

• 2+ years of PCU/related RN experience preferred
• Epic experience – Required
• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Preferred
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management experience
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Conscious sedation experience preferred

• May float to another appropriate unit when overstaffed.
• Call may be required.
• Self-scheduling is available.
• Strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory therapy, PT, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response, and transportation.
