RN – LTAC ICU | Columbia, SC

Location: Columbia, SC 29201
Unit: LTAC – 12-bed ICU / 35-bed Med-Surg
Shift: Nights | 4×12 hours | 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Contract: 13–26 weeks
Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
Weekend: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:2 in ICU; 1:5 when floating to Med-Surg
Charting: Epic

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for an LTACH (Long-Term Acute Care Hospital) ICU. This position requires strong critical-care skills and significant neurological experience, with the ability to care for medically complex adult and geriatric patients.

The facility includes a 12-bed ICU and 35-bed Med-Surg unit, and staff may work in both areas based on operational needs.

Patient Population & Clinical Focus

Patients may include those requiring:

• Ventilator weaning and long-term respiratory management
• Trach and PEG care
• Complex wound care
• Spinal cord injury care
• Neurological and stroke-related management
• ARDS, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and respiratory failure
• CHF and post-MI care
• Renal failure and other complex medical conditions

Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilated patients and assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Care for tracheostomy patients and manage ETT suctioning
• Administer and titrate vasopressors, insulin drips, anticoagulants, sedatives, and emergency medications
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, IVs, and blood products
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead ECGs
• Provide neurological assessments, including stroke scale assessments
• Manage tube feedings, NG tubes, ostomies, Foley catheters, and other complex patient-care needs
• Maintain strong infection prevention and isolation practices

Requirements

• 2+ years of ICU experience – Required
• Strong Neuro experience – Required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS – Required
• Epic experience – Required
• LTAC/LTACH experience – Preferred
• Previous charge experience – Preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma experience – Preferred
• Travel experience not required
