Job Description

The Surgical Technologist provides patient care support and performs essential duties in the operating room. Candidates must have strong cardiac surgery experience and be proficient in orthopedic, neurological, and robotic procedures to assist with general surgery cases when cardiac cases are not scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub for surgical procedures and anticipate surgeon needs throughout each case.
• Prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeon preference cards.
• Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac, orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgery.
• Assist with dressings, cast application, and other procedural needs.
• Perform and verify surgical counts according to facility policies.
• Maintain accountability for instruments, trays, and surgical supplies.
• Communicate count discrepancies and other concerns promptly.
• Update surgeon preference cards according to facility procedures.
• Follow patient safety standards, infection control practices, and operating room policies.
• Support process improvement, cost containment, and department teaching initiatives.
• Work additional or alternate shifts as needed.

Education & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a hospital setting.
• Operating Room Technician program completion or demonstrated technical skills preferred.
• Scrub Tech certification preferred.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
