Travel Contract – Registered Dietitian

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to adult patients in acute care and progressive care units within a Level I Trauma Center.
• Manage nutrition support, including enteral nutrition (EN) and parenteral nutrition (PN).
• Develop and manage customized PN formulas, including macronutrients and micronutrients.
• Conduct nutrition-focused physical examinations (NFPE).
• Assess and diagnose malnutrition.
• Provide nutrition education for patients with a variety of disease states.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the care team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Expected Caseload: Approximately 6–10 patients per day.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical dietitian experience.
• Acute care experience is mandatory.
• At least 2 years of experience in ICU and nutrition support, including customized parenteral nutrition (PN) management of macronutrients and micronutrients.
• Experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).
• Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition management.
• Nutrition-focused physical examination (NFPE) skills.
• Ability to assess and diagnose malnutrition.

Screening requirement: Candidates with less than 2 years of experience or without acute care experience must be screened out. Confirm ICU experience and custom PN management experience before submission.

Certifications and Licensure

• New Mexico Dietitian License (NM LD): Listed as a required credential; confirm active status and facility acceptance.
• Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC): Preferred.
• RQI Certifications: Not accepted.
• BLS: Not required.
• Pending State License: Accepted, subject to facility requirements.

Scheduling and Work Requirements

• Regular Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
• Weekend Coverage: Monday–Friday schedule; no weekend requirement specified.
• On-Call: Not required.
• Floating: Not required.
• Block Scheduling: Requests may be considered but are not guaranteed.
• Guaranteed Hours: Based on the contracted weekly hours (36, 40, or 48, as applicable); the facility may call off the clinician up to 3 times.
• Requested Time Off (RTO): Requests exceeding 7 days require approval.
• Overtime: Paid after 48 hours for contracts signed on or after October 30, 2025, per the stated facility policy.

Travel and Compliance Requirements

• Local Candidates: Not accepted within a 100-mile radius of the facility.
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Optional. The facility requires COVID vaccination numbers to be reported; upload the vaccination series or an Aya declination.
• Contract Length: New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
• Traveler Break Requirement: A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or upon reaching the 1-year mark, whichever comes first.
