  • Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen, and other prescribed treatments.
  • Manage required drips, including nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin for non-DKA patients, according to orders and facility protocols.
  • Recognize clinical deterioration and initiate appropriate Rapid Response or Code Team escalation.
  • Provide care to patients with medical, surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and trauma-related conditions within the assigned unit and scope of practice.
  • Document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, IV teams, physical therapists, phlebotomy, social services, and other interdisciplinary staff.
  • Float to different inpatient units according to staffing requirements and clinical competency.
  • Maintain patient safety, infection-control standards, and facility policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital.
  • Recent Level I trauma facility experience, with the detailed screening notes specifying experience within the past year.
  • Previous travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are generally not accepted.
  • Recent Epic charting experience within the last 2 years, with a facility checklist rating of 3 or 4.
  • Hands-on experience managing required IV drips.
  • Acute inpatient hospital experience; LTAC, rehabilitation, and nursing-home experience do not qualify as acute inpatient experience for this assignment.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to float across units and provide care within the RN's scope and competency.

Certifications

  • BLS: Required.
  • ACLS: Strongly preferred in the job overview; listed alongside BLS in the certifications field. Confirm the facility's final requirement before submission.
