School-Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Lenexa / Shawnee Mission, KS
$35–$38 per Hour | Full-Time | Short-Term Assignment with Potential Extension
Exciting Opportunity with PediaStaff!
PediaStaff is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a school-based opportunity in the Lenexa / Shawnee Mission, Kansas area! This is an approximately 8-week assignment supporting a student with complex medical needs, with the possibility of extension based on school needs and overall fit.
Position Details
- Location: Lenexa / Shawnee Mission, KS
- Pay Rate: $35–$38 per hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:10 AM–3:10 PM
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Approximately 8 weeks, with the possibility of extension
- Setting: In-person, school-based
- Student Needs: Tracheostomy care required; ventilator support with assistance from an RN already on staff
- Transportation: No bus riding required
- Workdays: Days students are in session
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and medical support to a student with complex healthcare needs.
- Perform tracheostomy care and assist with respiratory management within LPN scope of practice.
- Collaborate with an on-site RN who will assist with ventilator care.
- Monitor the student's health, safety, and medical needs throughout the school day.
- Communicate with school staff and healthcare team members regarding student care.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and follow established care plans.
- Assist with classroom and paraprofessional-type responsibilities when not providing direct nursing care.
Qualifications
- Active Kansas LPN license required.
- Previous tracheostomy care experience required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- At least one year of nursing experience preferred.
- Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred.
- Comfortable assisting with classroom support duties as needed.
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse; CNA credentials alone do not qualify.
