An immediate 13-week travel contract opening is available for an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) in Big Spring, Texas (Howard County / Permian Basin corridor). Operating within an intimate 10-bed acute medical-surgical unit with an average daily census of just ~8 patients, this position features an alternating 36/48-hour overnight schedule (combinations of 3x12 and 4x12-Hours, 19:00 PM – 07:00 AM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, averaging 48 total hours in OT weeks). EXCELLENT 1:5 NIGHT RATIOS! LOW CENSUS (10-BED UNIT)! HIGH-STIPEND WEST TEXAS PACKAGE! NO MANDATORY ON-CALL! The clinical team cares for a broad demographic across adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and occasional pediatric overflow. 💰 PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

• Weekly Gross: $2,562.00
• Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,470.00
• Hourly W2 Rate: $21.00/hr (40 regular hours)
• Overtime Rate: $31.50/hr (8 weekly OT hours included)

📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

• Schedule: Night shifts, alternating 36/48-Hour schedule (19:00 PM – 07:00 AM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM; alternating 3x12s and 4x12s per pay period).
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 regular hours + 8 overtime hours scheduled in 48-hour weeks.
• Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks (November 30, 2026 start date).
• On-Call Requirements: NO ON-CALL REQUIRED!
• Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Rotating weekend coverage (every other weekend) and rotational holiday scheduling.
• Department Setting & Ratios: 10-bed acute Medical-Surgical unit (average daily census: 8 patients). Direct patient-to-nurse staffing ratios maintained at 1:5.
• Clinical Scope & Specialty Care:
  • General medical and post-surgical adult/geriatric care: acute infection, diabetes management, respiratory compromise, renal disease, and wound surveillance.
  • Peripheral IV initiation, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and port accessing/management.
  • Respiratory support: Low/high-flow oxygen therapy, nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP management.
  • Medication delivery: PCA management, heparin protocols, sliding scale/IV insulin, and maintenance of stable non-titrated cardiac/vasoactive infusions.
  • Rapid response team activation and emergency code escalation.

🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated acute care inpatient Medical-Surgical RN experience within the last 3 years. Prior travel nursing experience is required.
• Licensure: Active Texas RN License or Compact/NLC Multistate License strictly in hand at submittal (Nursys verification must be included).
• Certifications Required at Submittal (Must all be active and attached):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) — AHA only.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Preferred Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
