Job Details

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois (IL) license required for submission, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• NBRC certification as either:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), preferred
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), accepted
• Experience working in a large critical care facility with 300+ beds.
• Critical care experience required.
• Candidates must not have worked at any OSF facility within the past year.

Clinical Responsibilities & Experience

• Provide respiratory care to general medical, intermediate care, and ICU patients.
• Manage respiratory treatments using the AARC point system, with approximately 26–28 points assigned per day.
• Experience with ventilators and respiratory support equipment is important.

Equipment Used:

• Ventilators: Servo U, Servo i, and LTV
• BiPAP/CPAP: ResMed S9
• Noninvasive ventilation: Trilogy
• Heated high-flow oxygen: Fisher & Paykel

Schedule Requirements

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Every other holiday
• No on-call requirements
• No floating outside the Respiratory Therapy department

Orientation

• First 12 hours: EPIC training, ventilator review, IPV, and specialty equipment review.
• Second and third 12-hour shifts: Work with a preceptor.
• Independent assignments begin after orientation.

Additional Requirements

• Candidate's middle initial must be provided at submission.
• Requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed.
• Candidates must understand that OSF is a drug-free campus and must pass a drug screen covering all required panels.
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; scrubs are not provided.

Facility & Contract Policies

• Local Radius Rule: Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate reduction of $25 from regular and overtime bill rates.
• Cancellation Policy: The facility may cancel the equivalent of 12 hours per 13-week period without penalty or payment for the canceled shift.
• Orientation: 12 non-billable orientation hours; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.

Screening Checklist
