Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Technologist specializing in microbiology to perform clinical laboratory testing, identify microorganisms, and support accurate diagnostic results. The ideal candidate has strong bacteriology skills, experience with automated microbiology systems, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform microbiology testing and analysis according to established laboratory procedures.
- Read and interpret bacteriology plates for multiple laboratory sites.
- Perform and interpret Gram stains.
- Operate microbiology identification and diagnostic testing systems.
- Maintain quality control standards and ensure accurate reporting of laboratory results.
- Document testing and results in the laboratory information system.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and specimen-handling protocols.
- Collaborate with laboratory colleagues and healthcare professionals to support timely patient diagnosis and treatment.
Must-Have Credentials
- Certifications: MLS (ASCP), M (ASCP), or SM (ASCP).
- Technical Experience: Experience with EPIC Beaker LIS, Vitek 2, and Bruker MALDI-TOF.
- Microbiology Skills: Bacteriology plate reading across multiple sites and Gram stain interpretation.
- Preferred Experience: Aptima Panther system experience.
- Professional Skills: Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a clinical laboratory.
