Description
Registered Nurse – PACU
Location: Abilene, TX 79606
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days | 5x8 hours (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Pediatric PACU experience strongly preferred.
- Phase I PACU and Pre/Post-operative care experience.
- Experience with outpatient/ambulatory surgery settings.
- Experience with various anesthesia types, including General, MAC, Local, Conscious Sedation, and Nerve Blocks.
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management.
- Active nursing license in hand required at submission.
- Travel experience preferred, not mandatory.
- Any charting system accepted.
Description:
- Provide post-anesthesia care to patients in an outpatient surgery center.
- Monitor patients during Phase I PACU recovery and assess post-operative conditions.
- Assess and manage pain using appropriate medications, including narcotics and reversal agents.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize/manage dysrhythmias.
- Monitor patients recovering from general anesthesia, MAC, conscious sedation, and nerve blocks.
- Perform airway assessments and manage oral/nasal airway placement.
- Monitor sedation levels using RASS and assess patient recovery.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies, including malignant hyperthermia.
- Provide post-operative care for ENT, general, orthopedic, plastic, podiatry, and other surgical cases.
- Provide care to pediatric patients.
