Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Travel Job Summary

1. Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois license required at submission, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.
• NBRC RRT or CRT certification.
• AHA BLS.
• Critical care experience.
• Experience in a large critical care facility with 300+ beds.
• Must not have worked at any OSF facility within the past year.
• RRT candidates preferred over CRT candidates.

2. Patient Population & Clinical Responsibilities

• General medical patients.
• Intermediate care patients.
• ICU patients.
• Approximately 26–28 AARC points per shift.
• Respiratory treatments assigned using the AARC point system.

4. Schedule Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM.
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
• Every other holiday.
• No on-call requirements.
• No floating outside Respiratory Therapy.

5. Orientation

• First 12 hours: Epic training, ventilator review, IPV and specialty equipment review.
• Second and third 12-hour shifts: Preceptor orientation.
• After orientation: Independent assignment.

6. Important Submission Requirements

• Candidate's middle initial.
• Requested time off (RTO).
• Active IL license or proof of application initiation.
• Candidate must understand OSF is a drug-free campus.
• Negative all-panel drug screen required.

7. Local Radius & Pay Policy

• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local.
• Local rate is reduced by $25 from regular and overtime bill rates.
• OSF call-off policy: Equivalent of 12 hours per 13 weeks without penalty or shift payment.
• Orientation: First 12 hours are non-billable and not covered by guaranteed hours.
