Position Overview

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the surgical process, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.

The RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This position requires the ability to care for patients of all ages, from newborns to elderly adults.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients and prepare them for surgical procedures.
• Provide nursing care throughout pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes.
• Administer medications and treatments and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Coordinate care with surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures and ongoing care.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow established nursing standards.
• Follow AORN guidelines and organizational policies.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and positive surgical outcomes.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLN-approved institution.
• Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Room nursing experience.
• Active Alaska RN license in good standing.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Ability to pass and maintain required clinical competencies.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, and patient-care skills.
• Knowledge of AORN standards.
