Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Facility Type/Setting: Acute Care Hospital
Department: Laboratory – 1st Floor
Shift & Schedule: Night Shift | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Weekly Hours: 36 Guaranteed Hours
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
 

Facility & Department Details

• Laboratory supports testing for 396 beds plus a rehabilitation hospital.
• Night shift staffing: 4 technicians, 2 phlebotomists, and usually 1 lab assistant.
• Performs STAT and routine testing on blood and other body fluids.

Requirements

• ASCP or AMT certification required.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Instrument troubleshooting and quality control (QC) skills required.
• Strong organization and multitasking skills.
• Team player with punctuality and problem-solving skills.
• Must escalate issues in real time.
• Meditech Magic or Meditech Expanse experience preferred.

• 2 Sysmex XN3000 systems with slide stainer and Cellavision
• 2 ACL TOP systems
• Ortho Vision
• Arkray
• PFA and Sofia 2
• Additional miscellaneous laboratory equipment

Responsibilities

• Perform STAT and routine laboratory testing on blood and other body fluid specimens.
• Conduct laboratory analyses and procedures to support diagnosis and patient care.
• Troubleshoot instruments and perform quality control.
• Manage multiple testing tasks while maintaining accuracy and organization.
• Communicate and escalate laboratory issues promptly.
