1. Schedule

• Shift: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• Shift Length: 12.5 hours
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Unit Size: 8 beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:3

2. Responsibilities

• Provide critical care to patients recovering from cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries.
• Manage post-open-heart surgery recovery and post-cardiac procedure care.
• Monitor patients following TAVR, complex PCI, thoracotomies, and vascular procedures.
• Monitor hemodynamic status using Swan-Ganz catheters and Edwards/GE monitoring systems.
• Manage and monitor central lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes.
• Assess patient conditions, recognize complications, and respond to emergencies.
• Provide close monitoring and specialized postoperative nursing care.

3. Requirements

• Critical Care or Cardiac Critical Care nursing background.
• Required experience in open-heart recovery.
• Experience recovering patients after cardiac procedures.
• Strong knowledge of cardiothoracic surgical recovery and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Experience with Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, central lines, and chest tubes is relevant to the unit's procedures.

4. Patient Population

The 8-bed unit cares for patients requiring intensive monitoring and recovery after:

• Cardiothoracic surgery and open-heart surgery
• Vascular surgery
• Thoracotomies
• Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
• Complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
