Primary Assignment:
Mainly ED Holds, supporting:

• GSH 1 Dally
• 2 River North and South
• Float Pool Teams

Experience Requirements:

• ICU: 2 years of ICU experience
• PCU / PCU ED Holds: 2 years of PCU experience
• Med-Surg: 2 years in an acute care setting

Certifications:

• ICU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• PCU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Med-Surg: BLS, NIHSS

Patient Ratios:

• ICU: 1:2
• PCU/CCU: 1:4
• Med-Surg: 1:5
• Rehab: 1:8 team model

Responsibilities:

• Provide care to mixed-diagnosis patients in ED Holds.
• Support ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, and float pool teams as needed.
• Care for isolation and non-ambulatory patients.
• Float within scope of practice, including partial shifts.
• Maintain flexibility and resourcefulness in a fast-paced environment.
• Provide medication administration, patient monitoring, and patient education.

Required Skills:

• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Ventilator management and invasive line management (ICU)
• Chest tubes, lumbar drains, and tracheostomy (PCU)
• IV medication titration (PCU)
• IVs, PCAs, drains, ostomies, and IV antibiotics (Med-Surg)
• Telemetry competency required

Scheduling Details:

• Assignment must be confirmed with staffing 30–45 minutes before each shift.
• Must arrive on the assigned unit by 7:00 PM.
• Cannot clock in before 6:53 PM.
• Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, approximately 10 days before it begins.
• Weekend schedule varies based on unit needs.
• No holiday requests, self-scheduling, or on-call.
• Time off requests up to 5 days may be approved; additional requests require NM approval.
• If requesting time off, candidate must be willing to extend the assignment.

Additional Information:

• Scrubs: Any color except camouflage; professional appearance required.
• Orientation: 2 days hospital orientation + 1 day unit orientation.
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
• RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist available 24/7.
