Pride Health is seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist to provide interim support for an inpatient rehabilitation service line across Rockville and White Oak, Maryland.

 
Job Summary

• The Infection Preventionist will oversee day-to-day infection prevention activities, conduct infection surveillance, investigate outbreaks, monitor healthcare-associated infections, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires an independent professional who can work closely with clinical teams, physicians, operational leaders, and executive leadership.
• The ideal candidate will have extensive acute-care hospital Infection Prevention experience, an active CIC certification, and the ability to manage infection prevention programs independently.

 
Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support daily operations of the Infection Prevention program across the acute inpatient rehabilitation service line.
• Conduct infection surveillance, monitor infection trends, and investigate outbreaks.
• Monitor and support prevention initiatives related to CAUTI, MRSA, VRE, ESBL, C. difficile, respiratory illnesses, and other healthcare-associated infections.
• Develop and implement educational programs related to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and communicable diseases.
• Collaborate with Occupational Health, Infectious Disease, physicians, and clinical teams to investigate significant infection concerns.
• Report communicable diseases to appropriate departments and public health authorities as required.
• Maintain infection prevention databases, surveillance records, and regulatory reporting documentation.
• Provide consultation and guidance to clinical, operational, physician, and executive leadership.
• Participate in Infection Prevention committees, councils, workgroups, and leadership meetings.
• Review and support infection prevention policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Ensure regulatory readiness and adherence to CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission, CARF, and applicable federal and state requirements.
• Maintain consistent infection prevention standards across both rehabilitation locations.

 
Required Qualifications

Education:

• Master's / Bachelor's degree in a related field.

 
Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of direct Infection Prevention / Infection Control experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
• Experience with infection surveillance, outbreak investigations, isolation precautions, and healthcare-associated infection prevention.
• Experience with NHSN and Cerner.
• TheraDoc experience is a plus; training can be provided.

 
Certification:

• Active CIC (Certification in Infection Control) – Required.
