Job Description

Job Title: Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech / OR Tech)

Facility Type/Setting: Acute Care Hospital | Level I Trauma Center

Shift & Schedule: Rotating Shifts | 4×10-hour shifts (Days, Evenings, and Nights)

Weekly Hours: 40 hours

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

• Call and weekend coverage required.
• Call may include weekdays and weekends.
• Up to 3 weekend call shifts within 6 weeks.
• Saturday call: 24 hours (7 AM–7 AM).
• Sunday call: 16 hours (7 AM–11 PM).
• Call response time: 30 minutes.
• In-house call rooms available.
• No block scheduling.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience within the last 3 years; 3 years strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of Level I Trauma experience within the last 3 years.
• Minimum 1 year of travel experience within the last 3 years.
• Strong proficiency in the following specialties:
  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics (Total Joint experience required)
  • Neurology (Craniotomy and Spine experience required)
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Trauma Surgery
  • Robotics – Da Vinci (Cardiac experience, including moving robotic arms and draping, required)
  • Transplant Surgery (preferred, not mandatory)

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment.
• Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operative procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical field readiness.
• Handle and organize instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Assist with patient transportation and positioning for surgery.
• Support surgical procedures across multiple specialties, including trauma, orthopedic, neuro, vascular, and robotic surgery.
