Start Date: November 30, 2026
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift – 4x10s (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
Schedule: Rotating day off; no block scheduling
Call: Required – weekday, weekend, and holiday call
Experience: 5+ years of OR nursing experience
Position Overview
Shannon Medical Center is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week assignment in San Angelo, Texas. The ideal candidate will have strong OR experience across multiple surgical specialties, including trauma, neurology, orthopedics, spine, general surgery, urology, and robotic procedures.
The facility is seeking OR-ready nurses for mid-shift coverage. Candidates may also be assigned charge nurse responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of OR nursing experience
- Active Texas RN license
- BLS certification
- Trauma Level II experience
- Strong knowledge of OR procedures, equipment, and instrumentation
- Ability to participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday call
Clinical Skills & Surgical Experience
Experience with the following areas and procedures is relevant:
- Neurology / Spine: Craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, cervical and lumbar fusions, ALIF, laminectomy/discectomy, kyphoplasty
- Trauma: Amputations, gunshot and stab wounds, motor vehicle accident injuries
- Orthopedics: Total joint replacement, arthroscopy, fracture reduction, ACL reconstruction, carpal tunnel release
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy
- Urology: Cystoscopy, cystectomy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, TURP
- Robotics: Da Vinci Xi, Mako, colorectal and urologic robotic surgery
- Additional Specialties: Podiatry, ENT, ophthalmology, and bariatric surgery
