Contract Duration: 26 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift: Night Shift

Shift Timing: 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Schedule: 10-hour shifts, 8 days on / 6 days off

Weekend: Required

Holidays: Required

Call/Standby: Not required

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) to join the Hematology Department at WVUH Clinical Laboratories.

The selected candidate will primarily work in the Coagulation and Urinalysis sections of Hematology during the night shift.

The position involves performing laboratory testing, analyzing specimens, maintaining quality control, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.

Candidates with experience using Epic Beaker, Werfen TOPS 500/750 coagulation analyzers, and Iris urinalysis systems are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized coagulation testing.
• Perform urinalysis testing and analysis.
• Operate laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Review, verify, and report laboratory results.
• Perform quality control and maintain laboratory standards.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and regulatory guidelines.
• Document test results using the Epic Beaker LIS.
• Work independently during assigned night shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related chemical/biological science.
• Active certification through either:
  • ASCP – Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist.
  • AMT – Medical Technologist (MT).
• West Virginia High Complexity Testing Personnel (HCTP) License or Trainee License issued by the WV Department of Health.
• Must have relevant clinical laboratory experience.

Preferred Skills & Equipment Experience

• Epic Beaker LIS.
• Werfen TOPS 500 and TOPS 750 coagulation analyzers.
• Iris urinalysis analyzer.
• Abbott Chemistry instruments.
• Previous experience in coagulation and urinalysis testing.
