Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Location: Midtown, Denver, CO

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Phlebotomist to support our busy Midtown location on a 13-week contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for accurately collecting and handling patient laboratory specimens for diagnostic testing while following established best practices.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring strong phlebotomy skills, a positive attitude, and flexibility. You will be joining a team that is rebuilding, so a collaborative, team-oriented mindset and willingness to help wherever needed are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Specimen Collection: Perform approximately 30–50 blood draws per day, working efficiently to maintain a 6–10 minute draw time per patient. This includes venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other collection techniques as needed.
  • Patient Population: Provide care for a diverse patient population, from pediatrics to geriatrics. This location has the highest pediatric volume in the region, so pediatric phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.
  • Environment: Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. This role primarily focuses on drawing and processing samples; no laboratory testing is required.
  • Systems: Utilize Epic to manage patient orders and navigate multiple computer systems effectively.
  • Patient Interaction: Clearly and compassionately communicate procedures and instructions to patients and their families. Manage stressful situations professionally while maintaining a positive and helpful demeanor.
  • Teamwork & Safety: Work collaboratively with the team, follow safety regulations and PPE requirements, and help maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Required Skills

  • Phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Patient care and communication
  • Teamwork and ability to work independently
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and safety requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on phlebotomy experience required.
  • Pediatric Experience: Highly preferred due to the high volume of pediatric patients at this location.
  • Systems: Epic experience highly preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: No specific certifications, including BLS, are required.
