Emergency Department RN AM Shift

Location: Long Beach, California Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hours (0700-1930), 36 hours per week Backfill: Opening exists to backfill a departing staff member.

Requirements

• Valid RN license in California
• Emergency Department (ED) experience of at least 2.5 years
• Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with Level 2 trauma patients

Preferred

• COVID vaccination record.

Health and Screening

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, not required annually.
• N95 fit mask within 1 year of start, renewed annually. Onsite fit testing is not offered; any N95 mask is accepted.
• Tdap within the last 10 years (may decline).
• TB screening: negative QuantiFERON, T-SPOT, or 2-step PPD within 1 year of start, updated annually. TB questionnaire required annually. Positive responders need a chest X-ray within 1 year of start.
• Measles, mumps, and rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart. Low or equivocal titer requires 1 booster and a post-titer.
• Hepatitis B surface antibody titer required (declination acceptable if low or equivocal).
• Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines 28 days apart (declination acceptable if low or equivocal).
• Flu vaccine required November 1 to April 30 (declination acceptable).
• Drug screen: negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant screen accepted). The panel must not include marijuana.
• California restriction: urine testing for marijuana/THC is prohibited. Saliva testing may be required if the client requests it, and both urine and saliva screens may be needed.

Background and Compliance

• Standard background check within 1 year of start, updated annually. The 7-year search includes SSN trace, county searches for locations lived, worked, or attended school, and a nationwide sex offender search.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion checks required.
• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Emergency contact form required.
• Badge photo is not required at this location.
• HIPAA education module must be completed before the Epic/EMR module. Modules are completed from home on the Monday of start and must be finished by the first in-person day on Tuesday of start week. Returning candidates may submit a HIPAA certificate dated within 12 months of start.
• Review of drug and alcohol-free policy, dress and appearance policy, hand hygiene policy, and discharge optimization and care briefing (RNs) before start. No documents to turn in.

Logistics

• Floating: not required.

• Weekends: yes, per department needs.
