Medical Technologist (Laboratory)

Location: Greenwich, Connecticut Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Day shift, 5x8 hours, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Coverage needed on weekends and holidays

Required Qualifications

• ASCP-MLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist, with experience within the last year
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience
• Experience on the chemistry bench

Licensure

• State license: CT or Compact license required
• If the candidate does not hold a CT or Compact license, they must apply for a CT license within 72 hours and provide proof of the application.

Preferred

• Collect the initial COVID-19 vaccine series if the candidate has received it

Pre-Start Requirements

• Background and identity: Photo ID matching legal name on the first day; 7-year criminal background check completed within 12 months of start and updated annually; federal exclusion checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start; highest-level education verification from an accredited school (diplomas not accepted); foreign equivalency evaluation for internationally educated candidates
• Drug screen: 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; rapid 10-panel accepted; panels cannot be combined
• Physical exam: Within 12 months of start
• TB: Negative T-Spot or QuantiFERON-Gold within 6 months of start, or 2 negative PPDs at least 1 week apart within 12 months of start (second PPD may be pending at start). Candidates with positive TB history need a chest X-ray within 1 year of start and must complete a TB questionnaire annually.
• Immunity documentation: Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella require a positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history, with boosters if a titer is low. Hepatitis B requires a positive titer, proof of the 3-dose series, or a declination within 1 year of start. Medical exemptions require the facility form completed by the candidate and provider.
• Influenza: Vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 to 03/31). Declinations are not allowed. Deadline is 12/01.
• Color blind test: Online test scored 80% or higher; exams dated before the signed contract are not accepted
• Fit testing: Fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be clean shaven for testing. Preferred masks are 3M N95 1860 (small or regular) or 1870+; any mask accepted if sized. Facility provides a universal mask if 3M masks are unavailable.
• Work history: 7-year employment history with no gaps greater than 90 days; verification of the last 7 years of employment for start dates on or after 8/2/2024 (attestations not accepted)
• References: 2 professional references for travel assignments, within 3 years of start
• Training: Chaperone Policy Training, Fire Safety Module, and Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training, each with an attestation. Submit a copy of the New Employee Orientation Module by end of day on start date.
