RN - ICU

Location: Thousand Oaks, California Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Unit: ICU, 1st floor, Tower 2 (10 beds)

Unit Overview

• Staffing: 30 staff

  • Day shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses, 1 unit assistant
  • Night shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses
• Patient ratios: 1:2 or 1:1, depending on acuity
• Equipment: External Ventricular Drain (EVD), CRRT, and ECMO (ECMO starting in early 2019)
• Typical procedures: Line placement, intubation
• Float scope: RNs float to CCU and PCU; travelers float first
• Most recruited for: Travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters
• Team culture: Hiring new grads; a team player who likes to teach is valued

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• Critical Care Float experience (2 years)
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• Experience working with Post-Operative Open Heart patients, including immediate post open heart care
• EVD management and monitoring
• Hypothermia management
• Vasoactive drug management
• Hemodynamics
• CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
