Registered Nurse – ER/MS

Location: Melrose, Minnesota Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP, any Monday

Schedule and Assignment

• Shifts: 3x12-hour shifts, flexible

  • Day: 0700-1930
  • Night: 1900-0730
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Guaranteed hours: Contracted hours
• Block schedule: Open to accommodating one, to be determined by unit need
• Weekends: Required every 3rd weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:6
• Float: Clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs
• Time off (RTO): Finalized RTO must be included with submission. No RTO in the first week of the start date. No more than 10 days of RTO per assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Minnesota
• Emergency Department (ED) experience: 2 years
• Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with adult patients
• Med Surg experience

Onboarding and Compliance

• Background checks: Criminal background check within 1 year of start (7-year search, SSN trace, county, sex offender, nationwide, and education verification). Third-party education verification required, with diploma acceptable in lieu of verification if proof of verification attempts is submitted. Excluded provider checks (GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG) required. International searches required for candidates who have lived or worked outside the US.
• Minnesota DHS fingerprinting: Required. Candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending. Clearance, a "more time needed" letter, or a DHS NetStudy Clearance Exemption is required. The questionnaire must be completed immediately after signing, and fingerprints must be completed within 2 weeks of registration.
• Drug testing: 9-panel or instant test within 1 year of start
• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start
• Tuberculosis: Minnesota PPD requirements apply (two-step PPD, or Quantiferon Gold or T-SPOT within 90 days of start). Positive PPD history requires documentation and a clear chest X-ray. TB questionnaire required annually.
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tdap required (no religious declination accepted)
  • Measles (rubeola), mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines. Time-sensitive, with proof due within 48 hours.
  • Hepatitis B: vaccination, positive titer, or declination
  • Flu vaccination or declination required between 10/1 and 3/31, with a deadline of 11/15. Declining staff must wear a mask at all times.
• Fit testing: N95 fit test required. Failed fit tests require proof.
• Competencies:

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs, updated annually
  • Competency exam (80% or meet/exceed Angoff score), updated annually
  • Skills checklist required
• References: Two references from recent employers within 2 years of start
• Work history: Verification required
• Education modules: Completed during orientation, averaging 16 hours. Candidates should report this time to payroll.
