MRI Tech - Radiology

Location: York, Maine Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours: 36 per week Department: Imaging Reports To: Director of Imaging

Schedule

• 3 day shifts: Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday
• 6:30 am to 7:00 pm
• Variable shift may be required due to census

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate from a two-year college, university, or certificate-based program
• ARRT registered or other qualified licensing from an MRI program
• 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist, including experience within the last year

Responsibilities

• Performs MRI procedures, including using and building protocols
• Screens patients for contraindications and follows safety requirements per ACR and facility protocols
• Interviews and educates patients on MRI procedures, addresses their concerns, and answers questions
• Ensures patient and staff safety, including explaining safety protocols, requesting removal of hazardous metal objects, and alerting staff to dangers around the magnet
• Monitors patients at all times, visually and verbally
• Operates other equipment needed for daily duties and patient care
• Maintains a clean, orderly environment, reports on equipment status, and helps monitor inventory
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of patients, including geriatric, pediatric, and general population patients
• May perform tasks in other departments, including CT and X-ray, as needed

Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of medical imaging exams
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to learn additional tasks and programs as the position requires
• Effective communication, teamwork, and multitasking

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, and some repetitive motions
• Exposure to radiation

• Electronic medical record familiarity is not required; training is provided by the facility.
